In CDT we are allowed to choose what we want to make. I have chosen to make a small piggy bank or something like it. I would make it out of wood and paint it if there was time left over. I think this is good because we get to be creative and choose what we want to. We have 4 weeks to make it, so i will have to be quick when i am planning. I hope it looks good in the end and manage to do this in time.

2 bits of wood

There shall be a hole in the bottom, to stop the money from falling out. We shall put a cork in it.

On Thursday Robyn and I were told that getting sheets of wood the thickness that we needed it to be was not possible so we were given 6 blocks of wood each and we stuck them together with glue. To keep them stuck together we used a clamp to hold the wood in place while it was drying.
↓ that is kind of what it looked like but our chunks of wood were a lot smaller.
Skills: Teamwork- Robyn and I both worked together to get the clamps in place and to help each other stick the wood together. My next steps are to hopefully next week we will manage to cut the wood and get the plastic ready too. ☺
In class I decided on my shape of my piggy bank and we trimmed the ends of the wood so the peices had equal ends.
I used planning skills to find out what would be the best design (not the hardest but not too simple) This is the design I like: If the design is not possible or too hard to make I will just make a plain piggy bank.
Next week I shall cut the wood and hopefully I shall get the plastic roughly cut.
On Thursday I managed to get half a bit of wood cut and also get my shape drawn out onto the sheet of wood. Next Thursday I shall finish off cutting the first sheet of wood and maybe a bit of the second sheet. Also I would like to hopefully manage to roughly plan the design I shall have painted onto the plastic. I like the starfish idea and the sea but i am not sure it shall work. I would like to paint the sea on with the kind of paint that is used when making things that are stained glass. For the starfish maybe just a small sticker that can be stuck on the inside of the piggy bank or just it painted on too.
